[a load of bollocks]

Sorry, I know this is off-topic, but can somebody explain to me the purpose
of this type of spam? I regularly get it in my inbox and I can make no sense
of it at all. I expect spam to sell me Viagra, or hoax me into giving away
my bank details, or carry a virus attachment. But this does *nothing*.

Anybody have a clue? (The spammer obviously doesn't.)

The versions of it that you get in your inbox usually has the garbage added
so it's impossible to filter out spam by automatically checking for lots of
messages with the same content. The garbage is usually added in a way that
you can't see; behind a picture, for example, or in parts of HTML that
aren't shown on screen.

On Usenet, the reason is similar, except that there's not usually a real
message anyone wants to send.

Can also be a way to forward virii/worms and other fun code?
And yes it is hard to filter, and it shows that your account is ALIVE
so that the next email you will get is a real spam message, but I suspect from a
different email domain than the first?
